MOVING ESTIMATE

What to expect when getting an Estimate from your moving company?

Here is some information on getting an estimate for your next local move or long distance move. We are here to let you know your options when choosing your next professional moving company.        What to expect with your estimate. There are serval estimate options, you need to know what every estimate means. Check out the options so you can relate to your movers Quote.

NON-BINDING ESTIMATE:

This type of estimate means the moving company can’t charge you more than 10% above the original estimate. Keep in mind this isn’t always the case, in some states, there may be No limit to what you’re required to pay, No matter what the estimate states. This is the most common estimate in the moving industry, especially with local moves.

NON-BINDING TO EXCEEED ESTIMATE:

This typically means you will not have to pay any overages to the original estimate. The estimate is the most you’ll have to pay for any service rendered. Check with your state to make sure this is true per state requirements.

BINDING ESTIMATE:

This should be a fixed price for your move and all extras and services. If you request addition service later on, though, you’ll have to pay extra for those services. That could include packing materials, rearranging furniture, unpacking services, not included in the original quote.

PHONE or ONLINE ESTIMATE:

When you call into our office, we can provide you with an approximate cost, either for your local move or for your long-distance move based on the items you wish to pack & move. Keep in mind we can’t see your locations and if there are stairs, elevator or long walk the move may take longer. So, it would be a rough idea on what to expect on moving day.  When it comes time to tipping your moving company and crew,  there are many factors to consider ,when deciding how much to tip.  So all of that being said, I always tell my customers it not mandatory to tip the crew.  Our business is like many services such as plumbers, Taxi, waitresses and waiters it’s all about customer service.  Moving furniture is strenuous job so showing your gratitude is very appreciated. To calculate how to tip you Movers you must first determine the size of the job.

1. How big is your move? Do you need packing Services, one piece to moved, One bedroom apartment moved, or 2-3 bedroom apartment, whole house move, small office moved, or large corporate move?

2. How difficult Is my move? Are there stairs ,elevator or long walk? Are there difficult pieces to pack or  move? fine china, crystals, antiques, Grand Piano, Piano, hot tubs, gun safe, pool tables , Rocks, statues , Large pots , lots of boxes, or simply a very hot day.

3. Are your movers friendly & Helpful? Is your Crew hustling, but carful? Are you being treated with exceptional service? If YES to these Questions, a Tip for your moving crew is appropriate!

Suggested Tip : Based on past customer tipping scale And difficulty or simplicity of job required. This is just an average tip suggestion.

2-4hrs =$10-$40 per guy

4-8hrs = $40-$80 per guy

8-12hrs = $40-$100 per guy

Loading for long distance Move and delivery $50-$200  keep in mind the crew is different at each end. So it common to tip at both ends.

Please don’t feel obligated to tip your movers if you do not feel your service was exceptional or you simply can’t afford it. We understand people are going through hard times these days.

Here at Jones moving & Storage we are here to help you every step of the way with expert movers.
